What do you mean by
"leadership training"?
All aspects of our organization are
devoted to polishing the leadership skills of our members. The
programs and events with which we are involved generally mirror
"real world" experiences. Jaycees regularly learn and practice
speaking, writing, budgeting, teamwork, marketing, interpersonal and
many other skills which make them more valuable to their employers
and more successful in life.
How do I become a
member of the Jaycees?
The process is very easy. Fill out a
brief application form, and attend a short orientation. New members
are often times "sworn in", but this is not a requirement.
Are there membership
dues?
Yes, they are $75 per year for members which
includes a personalized name tag and business cards.
What is required of
Members?
There are no set requirements to be a Jaycee.
However, like most organizations, our members get as much out of
being a Jaycee as they put into it. Attending one meeting and one
project per month is only a two-four hour commitment.
How often are
meetings held?
Our general, membership meetings occur on the
third Monday of each month. Other events are scheduled several times
per month.
With what other
types of programs are the Jaycees involved?
We offer Social opportunities where many make
life long friendships, self improvement and networking programs
which many use as a springboard in their professional careers, and
service projects where our members have the chance to work with
everyone from children to seniors.
Are there other Jaycee chapters in the
Chicago?
Yes, there are
many other Jaycees chapters in the Chicagoland area. Visit the US
Jaycees website and
click on the "Chapter Links" section
and scroll down to Illinois. |
